The Green Almanac began in 2010 as a small community newsletter for gardening enthusiasts in Bloomington, Indiana. What started as a passion project between neighbors has grown into a comprehensive resource for gardeners across the country.
Our founder, Emma Richardson, believed that everyone should have access to practical, science-based gardening information regardless of their experience level or space limitations. Today, we continue her mission by providing expert advice, seasonal guides, and inspiration to help people connect with nature through gardening.
We're proud to have built a community of over 100,000 gardeners who share our vision of making the world greener, one garden at a time.
Guiding principles that define everything we do
We believe in sharing knowledge freely to help gardeners of all experience levels succeed. Our content is thoroughly researched and reviewed by horticulture experts.
We promote eco-friendly gardening practices that protect pollinators, conserve water, and build healthy soil ecosystems for future generations.
Gardening connects people. We foster a supportive community where gardeners can share experiences, ask questions, and celebrate successes together.
